Happy New Year Everyone!!!! Can you believe 2016 is already over? I still remember last new years like it was yesterday. Oh well, now it's time to say goodbye to 2016 and hello to 2017!
2016, for me, was such an amazing year! It started off a little scary as I made an enormous leap of faith and decided to quit my job and begin photographing full time. There were a lot of unknowns going into the new year but, with hard work, the love and support of my family and friends, and A LOT of faith, this has easily become one of the best years of my life!
And now, here we are again, a new year has begun and all I can say is...BRING IT ON!! I have learned so much over the past year and I am so excited to see what 2017 has in store. In these last couple of weeks I have dedicated myself to creating a business that will serve you better. That's right, I said YOU! This business wouldn't be where it is without you. This next year will bring new services and products that I know you will love! Check out my new website and you'll see what I'm talking about.
One of the best things about being a photographer is meeting new people and forming relationships that otherwise would have never happened. My job is to capture the story of who you are and what you're celebrating in your life. In order to do this, I spend a lot of time getting to know each and every one of my clients. As I reflected on this past year, it occurred to me that I haven't shared much about myself! It's kind of hard to trust someone with your story when you don't know much about theirs, isn't it?
Now most of you know that I live in the great state of Texas, received my BFA at UNT, and that I am a huge Texas Rangers fan! But in order for you to get to know the girl behind the camera a little better, I wanted to share with you some fun facts about me. - HERE WE GO!
10 things you might not know about me!
1. I love to sing!
If I didn't have such terrible stage fright I would have gone into Musical Theater. Sometimes I wish I could live my life as a musical every day. My favorite musical is Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. It was my inspiration for getting married in the month of June (watch it and you'll see why!).
2. I love shopping at estate sales!
Some people think it's creepy. However, I see it as an opportunity to help people live on by giving new life to their belongings. Almost every room in my house is decorated with old family antiques and unique finds. Even some of my props and blankets for photo shoots are from estate sales and antique stores.
3. I'm addicted to the Food Network!
I've always been very conservative when it comes to food. "Picky" would be an understatement. I could live off of PB&J, Mac N Cheese and Blue Bell alone and be happy as a clam. This past year, however, I find myself wanting to learn and try more. I've discovered all the fun cooking channels and now have a desire to become the next Rachael Ray! I enjoy learning how to mix different ingredients and create my own spin on old dishes.
4. CHRISTMAS IS MY JAM!!
It seriously is the MOST wonderful time of the year! Every inch of my house is decorated for christmas, inside and out. If I could live every day like it was Christmas, I would. Spending time with friends and family and remembering what's really important in your life, that's what Christmas is all about. Remember everyone, "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!" - Elf
5. I know every word of every N*SYNC song!
Even more impressive, I still remember some of the dance moves! Yes, I was completely obsessed with the infamous boyband and completely heartbroken when they called it quits. I will never give up hope on a reunion!!!
6. I have persecutusestphobia.
For those of you trying to google this phobia, you won't find it...because it's not a real word! I made it up because my phobia doesn't actually have a name. Persecutes est is latin for 'chased'. I have a huge fear of being chased, by anything, doesn't matter what. This is partially why I never liked playing sports.
7. I hate coffee.
Yeeessss, I know, I'm crazy. But it's true. I hate every thing about it, the smell, the taste, and not to mention the price.
8. I'm a terrible gardener :(
I was not blessed with "the green thumb" as they say. Which makes me so sad because I love plants! I would love to have a fruit and vegetable garden right outside my kitchen! But alas, I cannot keep anything alive. Of course it doesn't help that I live in Texas and one day it's a balmy 70 degrees out and the next it's a frigid 17 degrees! Maybe it's not all my fault...
9. I am HUGE Star Wars fan!
That's actually how Stephen and I met, at a Star Wars concert! Our love for Star Wars is so bad, our guests get to sleep in a Star Wars themed bedroom! Who shot first?! 1,2 and 3 are away better than 4,5 and 6! Don't agree, let's talk about it! LOL! I am in love with the fact that Disney is continuing the franchise and I hope that it will inspire young jedi's everywhere forever! ~ "Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What's important is the action. You don't have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will flow. ~ Carrie Fisher. Rest in peace Princess Leia...
10. I like to name my pets after movie characters!
My husband and I have 3 fur babies. The oldest is Tucker, a terrier mutt who is so full of energy he could beat the energizer bunny in a race! He is named after the character Barnaby Tucker in "Hello Dolly", a musical set in 1920's Yonkers, New York (told you I like musicals ;) Our second baby is Théoden. A young tabby mix, who despite his kingly name from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is a ball of fluff who would rather eat and lounge all day than fight an evil orc pack. Last but not least we have, our baby, Thorin. Also a tabby, this little kitten fits his Hobbit prince dwarf's namesake perfectly... stubborn and adventurous! I also had a slew of pet fished named after the characters from Star Wars :)
Well there ya go! Now that you know more about me, I would love to hear more about you!
